Day 11 – What do you think about prostitution? Should it be legal?
In latin america, a predominantly catholic society, prostitution has kept the family together. In a catholic society once is forced to have a family. In order to have a family one must get married. Divorce is a sin, you are breaking a promise that you made to god.
There are two options, once the man has somewhat lost interest in his spouse he has two options. He can visit the prostitute or he can visit his lover. When you have another lover other than the spouse, this breaks the family apart. There is a higher chance that you will get divorced and run off with the lover. When the prostitute is in the picture, the prostitute will always be there, there will be no temptation to leave your family and run off with her because she will always be there. The prostitute keeps the family together.
In every latin american town there is a brothel and a church. It’s how they keep catholic.
